Bridgend – the home of breathtaking scenery

Right on the doorstep of the vibrant capital city of Cardiff and within easy reach of the Vale of Glamorgan’s unspoilt heritage coast, the county of Bridgend is a popular place to set up home.

Exploring the outdoors

Bridgend is within easy reach of some fantastic scenery. The Glamorgan Heritage Coast stretches for 14 miles, from Aberthaw to Porthcawl with rugged cliffs, secluded coves and breathtaking views. It’s a must for walkers, cyclists or anyone with a love of the countryside. The whole coastline is fringed with delightful towns, small villages and miles of footpaths and country lanes. The perfect place to explore.

A walker’s paradise

With a nine mile section of the Wales Coast Path running through the Vale of Glamorgan, it’s perfect for walkers wanting to try out part of the largest continuous coastal path in the world. The walk includes the dramatic cliff tops of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast and beyond, to the capital city of Cardiff.

Shops, shops and more shops

Home to the Bridgend Designer Outlet centre, and only 20 miles from the shopping capital of Cardiff, Bridgend, is never far from a good bit of retail therapy.

With over 90 designer stores on offer, Bridgend Designer Outlet is the perfect place to bag a bargain and meet friends. Cardiff has also recently been named the 6th best shopping destination in the UK, with its spectacular St David’s Shopping Centre, as well as the Queens Arcade, and its older arcades such as the RoyalCastleHigh Street or Morgan.

Keeping the kids entertained

Bridgend itself has a number of venues to keep the kids entertained, including Bridgend Miniature Railway, Wiggleys Fun Farm and Bryngarw Country Park. And with great beaches and walks nearby, there shouldn’t be any time to run out of ideas.

Transport links

With the M4 just 4 miles away and fast rail links to Swansea, Cardiff and London, Bridgend has great transport links and is an excellent commuter location.
