The couple and one year old son Noah were renting a home nearby and weren’t initially considering a move into the property market so soon.
“We weren’t actually thinking of purchasing a house – but went to see one in Yate out of curiosity,” said Starn (30). “It gave us an idea of what to plan towards when we were in a position to buy. After a few days, Sabine went to take our new born baby Noah for a walk, when she noticed the St Matthias development here in Fishponds, where we had been living for the last five years.
“After booking an appointment, we quite quickly started getting excited in actually having the idea of making the step towards purchasing a property. The home we looked at was just a five minute walk from where we were already living – so it was a swift decision to buy this plot. Our new two bedroom home is situated between Sabine’s job and mine – but also close to town.”
A great place to put down roots
In the popular area of Fishponds, St Matthias is within walking distance is the local high street – which has a range of shops, pubs and cafes. With great schools nearby, convenient links and quick access to the motorway, St Matthias is in a great place to put down roots.
Starn and Sabine secured themselves one of the last properties at the development, which is now sold out. But buyers should not be disappointed; there are still homes available at the nearby Filwood Park and Northfields Park developments, each just seven miles away.
The perfect location
“We chose St Matthias mainly for its location,” added Sabine (33). “We have been extremely comfortable living in Fishponds. And the two bedroom Newton house design that we chose was the very last one on the site – so it was a no-brainer to take it. We used Help to Buy to purchase our new home.”
“We found our sales adviser, Sarah, to be a massive pillar of support throughout the entire process. She constantly stayed in touch and we felt extremely secure in our communications with her.
“It really does feel like home here – and it’s great to live in a house that we can honestly call our own – compared to the rental property we used to share with other tenants. We’re very happy here – and we’re close to where we work too. I travel to Chipping Sodbury and Starn works at Southmead Hospital, so it’s easy to commute by car. It’s straightforward to travel to town by bus too, with just a three or four-minute walk to the stop from our house.”
