Construction site safety was top of the agenda for pupils at Goytre Fawr Primary School at a special assembly held by David Wilson Homes.
Graham Savage from the housebuilder’s nearby development, The Acres in Penperlleni, and safety, health and environment operations manger Rhodri Stephens visited the school to talk to the children about site safety.
The five star housebuilder holds regular safety talks and site visits for schools close to where it is building, to highlight the hazards of playing on or near building sites.
Site manager Graham said it’s important to get youngsters thinking about the dangers that exist to emphasise the message they should stay away from building sites.
“Youngsters are often on the lookout for somewhere new and exciting to play, but construction sites are not adventure playgrounds,” he said. “The assembly was a great opportunity to talk to the children who visited the site recently to see first hand the work we are doing to create the new homes.”
He said that children may think new home developments under construction look like fun and exciting places to play and these talks give David Wilson Homes the chance to remind children to stay away from them.
