New-build homes in and around Exeter are proving increasingly popular – not only among those already living here but also with buyers wishing to move from further afield.
And there is certainly no shortage of choice, thanks to long-term investment from Barratt and David Wilson Homes. The five star housebuilders are experiencing sales success at a number of developments in the area, even before some officially open their doors to buyers.

“In fact, latest research from Halifax reveals that properties in Exeter saw a 9.1 percent price increase during 2017 – securing a place in its top 10 house price growth chart. So buying a home here could prove to be a very good investment.”
Barratt’s Pinn Brook development in Pinhoe features an impressive selection of three and four bedroom homes. It has proved so popular, that only a handful of properties remain. And next door, David Wilson Homes’ Harts Meadow site, with its three, four and five bedroom designs, is beginning to take shape and promises to be just as sought-after as its neighbour.

New to the market
One of Exeter’s newest additions is Minerva, situated off Tithebarn Lane. Barratt and David Wilson Homes are offering two, three, four and five bedroom homes here – and they are already proving as popular as the housebuilders’ other offerings.
“Situated on the outskirts of the city, these two developments are right on the doorstep of a 15 acre country park – perfect for walking the dogs or blowing cobwebs away,” added Sara. “And the shops, schools and the local train station are all within easy reach. Buyers here will have everything they need for the perfect place to call home. Although our developments are not yet open to visitors, we know how keen buyers are to find out more about the homes here, so we’re currently selling them from nearby Pinn Brook.
“For some time now, the demand for our homes has been rising, and there are a number of reasons for this,” said Sara. “Many buyers choose new-build because they are ready-and-waiting to be moved into, and this is an attractive prospect over a high-maintenance older property.
“New-builds could also be up to 55 percent more energy-efficient than an upgraded Victorian home. That’s because we use smart techniques – like airtight doors, insulated roofs and special double-glazing – to make sure draughts won’t cause winter chills.
