The 1st Dinas Powys Scout Group has become one of the first recipients of a new community initiative in South Wales.
The group has received £1,000 from the Barratt and David Wilson Homes Community Fund which donates £1,000 each month to a charity or organisation which improves the quality of life for those living in the region.
The new scheme is part of the company’s pledge to strengthen its ties with the areas in which it is building new homes.
Daniel Davies, chairman of 1st Dinas Powys Scout Group said the donation would be of huge assistance for the group and really boosts recognition of its activities and team efforts.
“It is great to see your business supporting the local community which will help us complete our scout hall with new disabled facilities, kitchen and function rooms,” he said. We have secured the main funding for the building work and this donation will help contribute to complete the final fit-out work.”
Steve Williams, managing director of Barratt Homes in South Wales, said: “Being able to support organisations like this is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. As the country’s largest housebuilder we are committed to creating a positive legacy and work closely with local communities.”
In South Wales Barratt also supports Welsh children’s cancer charity LATCH and events such as the Monmouth Raft Race. Last year the company also supported grass roots cycling in South Wales and the Kids Out charity.
