Barratt Homes is contributing hundreds of thousands of pounds to the local area as it creates a new community in Tonna.
The five-star housebuilder is currently working on its new Cwm Celyn development, which will bring 110 new homes to the village. It’s expected that more than 300 jobs will be supported while the new homes are constructed and sold, providing a real boost to the local economy.
It’s not just construction workers who will benefit from the new development. Barratt Homes will contribute £100,000 towards highways improvements and £187,995 towards open spaces as part of its planning conditions. Nature will get a boost too, with more than 1980 trees, plants and shrubs to be retained.
Cwn Celyn will feature a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes, built with both families and first time buyers in mind. A fifth have been set aside as affordable homes and it’s likely that many of the other homes will be available to purchase with just a five per cent deposit under the government’s Help to Buy – Wales scheme.
Richard Lawson from Barratt Homes said: “We’re excited to bring much-needed new homes to this popular area of Neath. Cwm Celyn will in fact be one of the first developments in Wales to feature our brand new house designs.
“Supporting the areas we work in is important to us which is why we’re pleased to bring hundreds of thousand of pounds of investment as we deliver these new homes.”
