Bring the colour of spring into your home

With the spring equinox falling on March 20 this year, added to the fact that we’ve seen a bit more sunshine and slightly milder temperatures of late, we can delight in the fact that spring has arrived.

As we head into this season of new beginnings, and with summer just around the corner, we can’t help but feel a bit more positive as we see more colour outside.

Why not extend this colour and positivity into your home? With a few little additions, you can bring the outside in. Here are a few ideas for you to try.

Update your colours

Swap those darker shades of winter for lighter, brighter shades. Light shades of orange, yellow, blue, pink and purple are all perfect colours for spring. Anything from repainting the walls of your living room to a simple cushion update – all will help add a little spring colour.

This Blooming Yellow Flowers Cushion from Red Candy will look great on a living room sofa or kitchen chair.

Add some flowers

To make your home truly spring themed, you can’t go without flowers. They are guaranteed to brighten up any room. Many flowers are associated with spring, with the main ones being Daffodils, Tulips and Bluebells. All will add a splash of colour into the home.

House them in a beautiful vase like this lime green bud vase from Anabel James.

Invest in some light bed linen

We all love a thick duvet and a wintry throw in the colder months but to bring the freshness of spring into your bedroom, why not invest in some lighter bed linen? Something white and airy will look great and will be perfect for the warmer months ahead.

I love this Margo Sussex White Cotton Duvet Cover from Viva Lagoon.

Welcome in the scent of spring

A spring scent will bring that lovely smell of outside in. There’s no need for your mulled wine or spiced apple scents anymore – switch these to clean cotton or garden-type scents.

Nothing says spring/summer more than the smell of cut grass, and this Fresh Cut Grass candle from Sophie Allport is perfect.

Let’s hope we have a lot of spring weather to look forward to over the coming weeks, and if not, we can be safe in the knowledge that we have a little bit of spring in our homes.
