There’s nothing that makes me feel more festive than a Christmas market – the sights, the sounds, the mulled wine and mince pies. It’s a real festive awakening for me and something that I love to do every year with no hesitation.
At this time of year there are so many markets to choose from, that I tend to have a list of favourites across the country that I will try and attend as much as I can.
One for a unique location
Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market is known for its unique location right next to Winchester Cathedral. A beautiful setting and and array of handpicked exhibitors, makes this a great place for me to start my Christmas present buying.
One for awards
The award-winning Bath Christmas Market is a popular choice and one I love to visit. With over 150 twinkling chalets spread out across Bath’s gorgeous Georgian streets, it’s the perfect place to prepare for this year’s festivities.
One for travelling back in time
If I want to experience Christmas as it once was, I head to Portsmouth’s Victorian Christmas Festival. With its Victorian street performers and a traditional green Father Christmas, I can be transported to a different era.
One for a waterside setting
I love being beside the water, so Padstow Christmas Festival is a winner for me! This festival is one of the UK’s largest and shows Padstow at its best. It attracts over 40,000 visitors each year and is a popular destination of mine for a Christmas getaway.
